What Does “Minor Permit” Mean in the City of Sacramento?
The City defines a minor permit as one for which construction plans are not required and code-compliance review is performed in the field. The City lists several residential electrical scopes under this pathway, including panels, rewire work, whole-house fans, ceiling fans, and new electrical circuits.
That does not mean every electrical project is a minor permit. The City specifically separates new EV charger circuits into plan review, and larger remodels, commercial work, service changes, or projects with other disciplines may follow different submittal requirements.
